Flanged Type Diaphragm Valves

Diaphragm valves are compact, versatile components that control the rate and volume of fluid flow throughout a piping system. These valves feature a rubber diaphragm that moves up and down within the valve body to open or close the valve position.

Diaphragm valves are easy to install along virtually any point of a closed pipe system. Flanged valves feature a sturdy flange at either end of the fitting, rather than a threaded connection or socket-style ending. At TVI Valves, we specialize in creating high-quality, reliable diaphragm flanged valves for various industries and applications.

Flanged Diaphragm Valves From TVI Valves

TVI Valves has been designing, manufacturing, and providing heavy-duty plastic and metal valves for instrumentation and industrial applications since 1986. We build our flanged diaphragm valves to comply with industry-specific standards and applicable safety ratings so facilities can operate with fewer leaks, unscheduled downtime, and risks of breakage. Some of the core features of our flanged diaphragm valves include:

PVC Construction

Our sturdy PVC flanged type diaphragm valves are constructed from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a strong and chemically stable thermoplastic that offers excellent working pressure capabilities for water and chemical processing applications. Both the body and bonnet of the valve are constructed from solid PVC with stem and sleeve components made with lubricated brass or cast iron. Our PVC valves are available in sizes ranging from 1/2″ to 10″ in diameter.

Diaphragm

Our selection of flanged diaphragm valves includes a wide range of diaphragm material options to ensure it won’t contaminate, react to, or degrade in the presence of fluid while maintaining high-pressure performance capabilities. Material options include:

  • Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride
  • Polypropylene
  • Glass-Reinforced Polypropylene
  • Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride
  • Polyvinylidene Fluoride

Each material is available at safe pressure ratings for 105 psi at 73° F and 150 psi at 73° F.

Flanged Diaphragm Valves vs. Ball Valves

Operators activate diaphragm valves by manipulating an internal diaphragm that opens and closes to allow fluid flow at controlled rates or stop the fluid entirely. The diaphragm can also mitigate the risk of backflow by sealing itself if the flow of fluid reverses. The key advantages of diaphragm valves are the speed of shutoff capabilities they provide and their precision control. Flanged diaphragm valves are a great choice for many Pharmaceutical applications as its mechanism allows it to be extremely precise for reliable dosing. It’s an excellent choice for flow control of both gases and liquids.

Ball valves are another popular type of valve that allows a controlled rate of fluid through while eliminating the risk of backflow. Gravity and flow pressure control the movement of the ball within the valve to facilitate or halt the flow of fluid; when the flow pressure slacks, gravity lowers the ball into a closed position. Ball valves are preferred in systems where access is limited or frequent maintenance isn’t practical.

Flanged Diaphragm Valve Applications and Industry Use Cases

Our flanged diaphragm valves are constructed for easy insertion into any closed pipe system across a wide variety of industries. Some of the most popular applications for industrial diaphragm valves include:

  • Brewing
  • Chemical processing (both liquids and slurries)
  • Food processing
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Managing radioactive waste
  • Water purification
  • Wastewater systems
